Psalms: 124, 125, 126
Gospel: John 9:18-41
Patristic Reading: An excerpt from a sermon of St. Leo the Great

Those who go out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
carrying their sheaves. (Psalm 126:6)

I always wondered where the heck that hymn came from….Now I know….just goes to prove that the Daily Office is not only spiritual, but educational too 😉

Kind of an appropriate verse as we gear up for Holy Week. When we participate again in the divine drama of Jesus Christ dying and rising for us. Good Friday is filled with grief and tears…unsure where the seeds of faith have landed. But the mourning is not the end of the story, the Messiah’s defeat is not total….something else awaits us. A day when we are surprised and overjoyed…..remembering that we are the ones who are fed by the harvest with the Bread of Life.

I can’t wait to embark on that journey together. 🙂 +
